Life After Siham
Namir's mother, Siham, passes away. To keep her memory alive, he delves into his family history in Egypt and France.
This touching and at times humorous documentary follows the director's personal journey – using cinema as a tool – in the processing of the loss of his mother. On his journey, he uses the films of Youssef Chahine to tell his family's story – a story characterised by a life in exile, but first of all of love. The film was shot over several years and spans decades of family history, while also reflecting on life as an Arab in France and a Christian in Egypt. The result is a beautiful meditation on memories, family and faith.
Culture Hub: Wine Tasting
On Saturday, March 21, you can start the festival evening with a wine tasting in the Vika basement from 16.00. Wines from the Arab world are bold, spicy, and full of personality – just like the films we show.
