A Sad and Beautiful World

Over three decades, Nino and Yasmina are bound together by a magnetic pull. They must ask themselves: Should we build a family in Lebanon or leave our home during an ongoing crisis?

Nino and Yasmina were born on the same day – just one minute apart – at a hospital in Beirut as the war raged outside. This marks the starting point of a story that unfolds over several decades. As children, they quickly form a bond. Many years later, they meet again by chance, and a new phase of their relationship begins.

With a playful cinematic style and outstanding music and cinematography, director Cyril Aris paints a beautiful portrait of Lebanon – and the resilience of its people – through the lives of the two protagonists.
