Back To Alexandria
After 20 years in Switzerland, Sue returns to her homeland Egypt to visit her dying mother. Mother and daughter, played by Fanny Ardant and Nadine Labaki, are reunited in this delightful feel-good movie.
The mother and daughter have a complicated relationship, revealed when Sue and her mother embark on a road trip from Cairo to Alexandria. During their journey through Egypt's beautiful landscape, the reasons why Sue has not been in her homeland for so many years are uncovered. This is a charming and thought-provoking film about nostalgia, homeland, and confronting past traumas. Back to Alexandria is wonderfully acted by the two leads: Fanny Ardant as the eccentric aristocratic mother and Nadine Labaki as the daughter.
