Wedding in Galilee
A Palestinian patriarch seeks permission to lift Israel's curfew to give his son a grand wedding, but the governor agrees to it on one condition: that he and his officers can attend.
The father accepts the conditions, triggering a series of events involving the various villagers over the two days leading up to the wedding: the groom is angry with his father for accepting the demand, the women of the village prepare the bride for the wedding, and Palestinian youths plan violent resistance, to name a few. The tension between the army and the villagers increases, while the groom's anger and impotence threaten the family's honor.
Wedding in Galilee paints a fantastic picture of the various dynamics in a Palestinian village, emphasizing the residents' shared history and common struggle against Israeli occupation. Here, a vital film work about Palestinian national identity highlights the connection to the land and its past. The film is the first feature film made by a Palestinian and filmed entirely in Palestine.
