AFD16 This is exile

A heartbreakingly honest depiction of migration seen through children’s eyes. The director follows a group of young Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Switzerland throughout one year. He allows the children to explain what is happening, which gives us a unique insight into just how simple and how complicated their reality is. This film does not set out to find answers to how Europe should handle the large number of refugees who arrive, but shows how those who come experience Europe. We also get to see how life as a refugee in their so-called local areas plays out, and how children strive to experience a sense of normalcy in an everyday dominated by chaos and uncertainty.

After the screening Friday 15th April at 6.30 pm. and before the screening Saturday 16th at 9.30 pm, there will be a panel debate with director Mani Yassir Benchelah on how the refugees can receive help in their nearby areas.
