Sixty women have signed up to participate in a spectacle based on Euripides Greek tragedy The Trojan Women. All are Syrian refugees in exile in the Jordanian capital Amman and the play allows them to express their own feelings of loss. Around 1.4 million Syrians have fled to Jordan and for most the conditions are very difficult. None of the women have stood on a stage before and for many the process is harrowing. Recently experienced trauma, fear of the consequences if they go back to Syria and conservative attitudes towards gender results in great apostasy. But not all - the result is both impressive, riveting and not least heart-breaking!

Join the panel conversation after the screening on Friday 17 April at. 4:00 p.m. with Mehdi Farshbaf, researcher at the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, Mona Abdel-Fadil, post.doc at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo, and Ina Tin, senior adviser at Amnesty Norway.

Millions of Syrians have fled their homes to other places in Syria or to neighbouring countries. We ask what the consequences of the refugee disaster are both for the individual and society.
