Donga
Nineteen-year-old Donga took his camera to the front line when the uprising broke out in Libya in 2011. Ten years later, he reflects on the time he, as a teenager, took on the responsibility of a reporter during the war in Libya.
The documentary Donga starts when violent turmoil unfolds in Libya in 2011, an unrest that would lead to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi after 42 years in power in the North African country. Donga, from Misrata, brings his handheld camera to the front and films what he sees. He witnesses the brutality of war, and he gets injured. Ten years later, Donga sits alone at a hotel in Istanbul, talking while watching his recordings from back then. His views and thoughts have changed since he was a 19-year-old driving around with a camera. A disillusioned Donga shares his reflections on war.
«From the viewpoint of a citizen journalist on the frontline, Donga by Muhannad Lamin uses video excerpts to take us through 12 years of Libyan history and the aftermath of the revolution.»
