The Oslo Diaries
A documentary about the Oslo Accords will always be criticized - just like the Accords itself. What was the Accords about? How did it come about? The Oslo Diaries look back at the 90es and the period during which the secret talks between Israel and PLO took place in Oslo. The documentary is conducted both by conversations with participants in the process, archive photo, excerpts from diaries and letters, but also staging of the Oslo meetings. Whether this latter move blurs the distinction between fiction and reality is a relevant question. In any case, the directors are bringing forth exciting material, highlighting both the deep and mutual scepticism to the other party on both sides, as well as the participants’ dreams of future peace. The Oslo Diaries thus provide a realistic and fresh view on the Oslo Accords, which have been described thoroughly in miles and miles of academic texts. For anyone who is the least interested in the politics of the Middle East, this movie is a must-see!
