678 Cairo is an intelligent Egyptian drama about sexual harassment, released right before the Arab Spring in 2011. It tells the story of three different women bound together in a fight against the deep-rooted sexism of the Egyptian society.

Taking the crowded bus line 678 is uncomfortable for Fayza who often gets harassed by strangers. She realizes she needs to be able to protect herself, and finds Seba, a woman who arranges self-defense courses for women. Unfortunately, Seba is attacked after a football game. At the same time, Nelly, a young up-and-coming stand-up comedian is attacked in the streets, and makes history by taking the incident to court. Through Seba, the three women come together to fight alongside each other against the sexual harassment the women of Egypt feel every single day. Both 678 Cairo and Clash, our opening movie, were praised by critics and audiences around the world. We hope you take this opportunity to see them both at the festival.

Mohamed Diab (b.1978) is a director and writer from Egypt. His feature debut, 678 Cairo, released right before the revolution in Egypt received critical acclaim worldwide. The film has received awards at Chicago International Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival among others.
