Who really are the jihadists who bomb themselves in Syria? Director Pål Refsdal has created an intimate portrait of a group of men inside Al-Qaida who have volunteered to complete a suicide attack against the Al-Assad regime. We are introduced to the Saudi man Qaswara with the beautiful voice and Abu Basir al-Britani – a politically engaged, British convert. Abu has a strong repulsion against his own society, but this conviction is weakened after a marriage during the wait for the attack. The film is beautiful and introspective, and almost provoking in its humane representation of men who are willing to die in order to “free Allahs suppressed people”.

After the screening Sunday 17th April at 1.45 pm, there will be a conversation about the possibilities for peace in Syria, with director Pål Refsdal.
