Self Made
A radical Israeli performance artist who has created a bag of her own uterus, and a slightly plain Palestinian hip-hop-loving suicide bomb recruit switches identity on an Israeli checkpoint. This is the basis for this unconventional and furiously festive comedy of confusion with occupation as a backdrop. Both women are slightly confused. One arranges a trail of screws she takes from the soulless IKEA-like furniture factory she works at, in order to find her way home. The other is confused because of a concussion with complementary amnesia after the IKEA-like bed she sleeps in suddenly collapses. The film surprises at every turn of strange and subtle entanglement, where two strong women from vastly different cultural, religious and social standpoints live amid the absurdities of political reality.
